History and information
Chasteberry is the fruit of the chaste tree, a small shrub-like tree native to Central Asia and the Mediterranean region. The name is believed to come from the perception that the herb promoted chastity. There is some mention that certain monks in the Middle Ages used chasteberry to lower their libido or sexual interest.
