Nattokinase is a systemic enzyme isolated from the traditional Japanese soy food, natto. It has been shown to support healthy blood flow by assisting the circulatory clearing system of the body and has fibrinolytic activity which means it can dissolve blood clots. * We suggest you discuss with your health care provider regarding the use of nattokinase, particularly if you are taking aspirin, Coumadin ( warfarin ), Plavix, or other blood thinners. *

Nattokinase enzyme questions
Does nattokinase enzyme inlfuence blood pressure or those taking blood pressure medications such as an ace inhibitor or a beta blocker?
We have not seen any human studies that have evaluated people taking nattokinase while they are also taking blood pressure pills such as ACE inhibitors or beta blockers. One human study showed supplementation with nattokinase lowered blood pressure by a small amount. We don't know the safety issues involved taking nattokinase with hypertension medications or heart medications.

Can a nattokinase supplement be taken at the same time as a serrapeptase supplement?
We cannot say since we have not seen any published research combining nattokinase and serrapeptase, and until these kinds of studies are done, we suggest not combining these two enzymes.

Someone asked the question about combining nattokinase and serrapeptase and the response was not advisable. There is a product out that combines them. Why is this?
Few human studies are available with either nattokinase or serrapeptase and hence it is very difficult to know what kind of effect the combination formula would have. To be on the safe side, it is advisable to learn how serrapeptase alone and nattokinase alone work for you before considering the combination.

If a person is taking ginkgo biloba, vitamin E, and curcumin, can they also take nattokinase? I would like to give nattokinase to my husband to prevent blood clotting and thin his blood for better circulation.
These are good questions bur we don't have good answers. We are not aware of any studies that have evaluated bleeding or clotting tendencies when nattokinase has been given in combination with other vitamins or herbs that thin the blood. The nattokinase dosage, of course, would make a significant difference, in addition to diet, and a person's inherent clotting or bleeding tendencies.

Is nattokinase enzyme contraindicated for someone who has difficulty digesting soy?
We have not seen any such contraindication in the medical literature.

Could you tell me whether this product is enteric coated?
It is not. We have not seen any studies that shows enteric coated nattokinase provides a better clinical response than a non-enteric coated formula.

Is there vitamin K in your nattokinase product?
   No, there is not.

I was just reading some information on you nattokinase and you say not to take it if you are on a blood thinner but another web site says you can take it with a blood thinner. They quote a Dr . Hiroyuki Sumi M. D. PH.D that has research on this that it is safe to use with other anti-coagulants. It would be a shame for people to not take this product because of being on a blood thinner when I think it would benefit a lot of people. I think that taking all the natural products we can is good since the drug companies are killing thousands of people each year with drugs .Sorry if this makes you mad but I think people should be informed well. I don't work for this or any other supplement company
We trust the research review done by our medical advisor who prefers being on the safe side and not mixing nattokinase with other substances that thin the blood unless under medical supervision. See the article below that reviews potential dangers with such combinations of nattokinase and aspirin.

Nattokinase is recommended to prevent clotting, but I have a question about thinning the blood. Does it have the same effect as wafarin or similar medications. If one has a tendency to incur stomach bleeding from aspirin or plavix, is nattokinase safe?
We don't know how potent nattokinase is in relation to Plavix, warfarin or aspirin as a blood thinner. For the time being, we suggest using this blood thinning enzyme with the same caution as other medications used to dissolve or prevent blood clots.
