Q. Do GABA supplements help reduce stress?
   A. GABA supplements when taken orally are not able to effectively cross the blood brain barrier and therefore are limited in their effectiveness. There are other natural ways that may be more effective for relaxation. See anxiety for some information on this topic.

I was wondering if it was okay to open a Gaba capsule (to take half in morning and half a night) and have the powder dissolve in the mouth? Is absorbing Gaba in the mouth okay, or is it better to swallow the pill entirely?
    We don't see any problems opening the capsule and using it as you mention. As to oral absorption, this is a good question. We are not sure but it is certainly worth a try.
