Turmeric information
Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is a plant native to south India and Indonesia. Its tuberous rhizomes have been used from antiquity as a condiment, as a textile dye and medically as an aromatic stimulant. Curcumin is the substance that gives the spice turmeric its yellow color. Curry powder which is extensively used in Indian cuisine, is largely made of turmeric.

Q. Can a curcumin turmeric supplement be taken daily for prolonged periods?
   A. Probably, but just to be on the safe side since we don't fully know the long term effects of curcumin and turmeric when used as a supplement, it may be a good idea to take a day or two off a week, unless your doctor is treating a particular medical condition with this product and wants you to be on it daily.

Q. Is it okay to take a capsule of MultiVit Rx and a capsule of turmeric curcumin together?
   A. It should be okay.

Q. Are there any side effects to turmeric and curcumin if one capsule is taken daily?
   A. Thus far we have had no reports of turmeric side effects of any significance. There is always the rare possibility, as with any substance, that an allergic reaction could occur.

Q. Before I buy a turmeric supplement I would like to know if turmeric allergy is common.
   A. Turmeric allergy is extremely rare.

Q. Which is the right spelling, turmeric or tumeric?
   A. Although it sometimes sounds like tumeric, the actual spelling is with an r, turmeric.
