Take the active form of R Alpha Lipoic Acid supplement rather than a combination of active and inactive forms of alpha lipoic acid supplements. This R alpha lipoic acid supplement only contains the active form of lipoic, called the R isomer, and does not contain the inactive version called the S isomer which is found in most alpha lipoic acid supplement products. The raw material cost of R alpha lipoic acid supplement is several times more expensive than regular alpha lipoic acid which contains both the R isomer and the S isomers.

R Alpha lipoic acid information
R-Alpha Lipoic Acid supplement is more potent than commonly sold synthetic lipoic acid supplement which contains both the R and S forms of lipoic acid. R Alpha Lipoic Acid side effects:
The most common short term r alpha lipoic acid side effects from high doses of alpha lipoic acid include alertness and shallow sleep. R Alpha Lipoic Acid supplement questions:*
Q. I have seen websites that sell 300 mg of alpha lipoic acid supplement and even 600 mg. They claim research has been done with these high dosages.
   A. It is true that high dosages of alpha lipoic acid such as 300 mg or 600 mg have been tested . However, one must keep in mind that when researchers do a study, they have limited time and in order to elicit a response, they use high amounts of an herb, nutrient, or drug. But, this does not mean that these high amounts of alpha lipoic acid are approriate to take daily forever. Taking too high doses of certain supplements or herbs is not necessarily desirable. Until more long term research is availalbe, we suggest keeping the dosage of R alpha lipoic acid to 10 to 50 mg a day and taking 2 or 3 days off a week, unless your doctor has a different treatment plan for your individual condition. High doses can give alpha lipoic side effect of rapid heart beat.

Q. Can alpha lipoic acid be taken the same day as acetyl carnitine or acetyl cysteine or carnitine?
   A. Yes, but the dosages need to be reduced.

Q. What is the right R alpha lipoic acid dosage?
   A. It depends. Some people don't need to take R alpha lipoic acid at all. Most others may find 10 to 50 mg of R alpha lipoic acid a few times a week to be sufficient.

Q. I am interested in this R Lipoic product product. Could you please tell me where the product is made and what grade is it: industrial, food or pharmaceutical?
   A. R-Alpha Lipoic Acid is made by Marlyn Neutraceuticals in Arizona which is one of the few FDA approved labs in the country. They HPLC test every raw material for purity and accuracy before bottling them. Supplements in general are not classified by industrial, food, or pharmaceutical categories, rather the purity is tested by HPLC. There is no such thing as industrial grade alpha lipoic acid or food grade alpha lipoic acid.

Q. Before I buy alpha lipoic acid, I would like to know if I can take it the same day as CoQ10.
   A. In general, supplements can be combined if their dosage is low. The way you can find out the appropriate dosage of a supplement for you, such as alpha lipoic acid, is to take it for a week or two by itself and note the benefits and side effects. Then, you can try CoQ10 by itself for a week or two. Once you have a good understanding on how alpha lipoic acid and CoQ10 make you feel, and the right dosage of each for you, then you can combine them at half the dosage of each.

Q. I would like to know if the r-ala r alpha lipoic acid that you offer has a natural formula source from meat or
vegetable?
   A. R alpha lipoic acid is made synthetically in the laboratory. It would not be cost effective to try to extract it from the small amounts present in food.

Q. Is it okay to take an acetyl l-carnitine and alpha lipoic acid supplements together?
   A. Yes, but we suggest taking only half a capsule of acetyl l-carnitine and alpha lipoic acid supplements when taken the same day.

Q. I am vegetarian, I want to buy r alpha lipoic acid in a veggie capsule. Is your r alpha lipoic acid supplement suitable for vegetarians?
   A. Not at this time since the capsule is gelatin, but many vegetarians buy alpha lipoic acid supplements, they open the gelatin capsule by pulling on each end and they empty the contents in a glass of water or juice.

I would like to try from 5 to 20mg of R-Alpha Lipoic Acid .  Is 50 mg the smallest dosage that I can order?  If so, is the capsule a  softgel or solid?  How could I divide  it to get the amount I need?
    50 mg is the smallest we offer. It is a capsule that can be opened by pulling on each side and emptying some of the content. Since there is no need to be precise, a fifth, quarter or a third will provide you with the smaller dose you wish to have.
