Amla extract Questions:
Q. Is blood sugar control a benefit of amla or amla extract?
     A. We have not come across human studies regarding the use of amla supplement, amla powder or amla oil for blood sugar control. Most of the amla research has been done in rodents but there is a great deal of practical exprience with amla by practitioners of Ayurvedic Medicine.

Q. Can you tell me about amla skin care. Is amla oil helpful for hair?
     A. We are not familiar with the benefit of amla oil in terms of skin care or hair health.

Q. I have read on another web site that amla is used in Ayurveda for cholesterol control. Before I buy amla, I would like to know if this is true.
   A. Amla has been studied in rodents in terms of cholesterol but we have not seen human studies regarding the use of amla for cholesterol control.

Spermatotoxic effect of ochratoxin and its amelioration by Emblica officinalis aqueous extract.
Acta Pol Pharm. 2009 Nov-Dec; Chakraborty D, Verma R.Toxicology Division, Department of Zoology, University School of Sciences, Gujarat University, Ahmedabad 380 009, India. 
The present study was carried out to evaluate the spermatotoxic effect of ochratoxin and it's amelioration by Emblica officinalis aqueous extract. When male albino mice were treated with ochratoxin alterations in various reproductive parameters were observed (sperm count, sperm motility, sperm viability and fertility rate), when further treated with the aqueous extract of Emblica officinalis amelioration was noted in ochratoxin-induced spermatotoxic effect. When normal human sperm cell suspension was treated with ochratoxin (in vitro), various morphological alterations were observed. These were mitigated further, when treated with aqueous extract of amla.
